What are the types of Velocity?
Answers
Explanation:
The Types of Velocity
- Constant Velocity. An object with a constant velocity does not change in speed or direction. ...
- Changing Velocity. Objects with changing velocity exhibit a change in speed or direction over a period of time. ...
- Mathematics of Acceleration. ...
- Instant Velocity. ...
- Terminal Velocity.
Velocity-
Net displacement of a particle in per unit time is known as velocity.
Important Points-
=> Velocity is a vector quantity and its unit is metre per second.
=> For moving body velocity may be +ve, -ve or 0.
=> Direction of average velocity is always along the net displacement means from initial to final position but the direction of instantaneous velocity is always tangential to the path [See the attachment where (i) and (ii) show Instantaneous Velocity ].
Types of Velocity-
1. Uniform Velocity -
If magnitude and direction of velocity remain unchanged then it is known as uniform velocity.
2. Non-uniform Velocity -
If either of magnitude or direction change then it is known as non uniform velocity.
Some Important terms and formula's-
1. Average velocity-
The ratio of total displacement and total time taken by the particle is known as average velocity.
2. Instantaneous velocity -
The velocity of a particle at a particular instant or movement is known as instantaneous velocity. If time interval is made infinitely or negligible small then average velocity is converted into instantaneous velocity.
