since ammeter has practically zero resistance and a voltmeter has practically infinite resistance , hence voltage drop across both of them is zero. Since the ammeter is connected in series hence the ammeter reading is 0.24 amperes. =2.88 volts. hence voltmeter reading will be 2.88 volts.
