The baking soda is commonly used in kitchen for making tasty crispy Pakoras, etc. sometimes it is added for faster cooking.

The chemical name of the compound is sodium hydrogencarbonate (NaHCO_3). If is produced using sodium chloride as one of the raw materials.

Uses of Baking soda :-

\Large\starFor making baking powder, which is mixture of baking soda and a mild edible acid such as tartaric acid. when baking soda is heated or mixed in water the following reactions take place

 \sf NaHCO_{3} + H^{ + }  \longrightarrow CO_{2} + H_{2} O + sodium \: salt \: of \: acid

carbon dioxide produces during the reaction can cause bread or cake to rise making them soft and Spongy.

\Large\starsodium hydrogen carbonate is also a ingredient in antacid. Being alkaline. it neutralises excess acid in the stomach and provides relief.

\Large\starIt is also used in soda fire extinguishers .
