Cotton is used to make all kinds of clothes and homewares as well as for industrial purpose like terpaulins, tents, hotel sheets and even army uniforms.

Cotton fibre can be woven or knitted into fabrics such as velvet, jersey, velour and flannel.

In India, cotton is mainly cultivated in the states of Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh. It is grown in black clayey soil with warm climate.
