Process:-

In a mixture of two immiscible liquids, the one having higher density occupies lower layer and the one with lower density occupies upper layer.  

Principle :-

This principle is used to separate two immiscible liquids.

Uses :-

For a mixture of dichloromethane and water, dichloromethane having higher density occupies lower layer and thus, filters out first.
