                           carbon

  • a carbon atom has four electrons in its outermost valence shell. so it need four  more electrons to complete its octet.

                          hydrogen

  • hydrogen valence number is one ,because it has only one valence electron and needs only one shared electron to fill its energy levels.this means it can bond with many elements.

                           oxygen

  • of  oxygen is 8 .atoms can either donate or recieve electrons  only in valence shell.8 electrons in outermost shell is considered as themost stable state of an atom as the shell will be fully occupied .
