Not 100% sure of the scope of this question, but in general computers can be applied to many forms of entertainment such as television, movies, plays, and so on. Computers are needed for computer generated images, CGI, used in a lot of movies and shows where the characters or events are hard to recreate in real life.
Possibly a new application would be their use combined with artificial intelligence in actually creating entertainment such as writing movie scripts which IBM recently demonstrated by having Watson write a short movie. In another event, they showed how the use of computers was able to bring a broadway play more to life by layering images/effects over the actors, such as seen a lot of times with performances where dancers perform with the lights out and use motion tracking to layer over lights over themselves.
