1) Lack of internal democracy:- Parties do not hold organisational meetings, do not keep maintain membership registers, do not hold open elections and do not hold elections regularly.

2) Dynastic succession:- The top positions of a party are often occupied by members of one single family.

3) Money and muscle power:- To win the elections parties nominate candidates who can raise a lot of money. They also take help of criminals.

4) Lack of meaningful choices:- Parties are often same in their ideological differences and do not offer a meaningful choice.
