soil is very important because of the following reasons:

firstly it helps in binding the roots of the trees and hence not allowing soil erosion to take place.

it serves as a home for many of the living organisms like earthworms which contribute in the fertility of the soil and many of the microorganisms which help in decomposition of the Dead plants and animals

soil which is full of nutrients that is Alluvial soil helps in providing the right amount of nutrients to the plant and help in its growth where as the desert soil they serve for the growth of cactus.

it provides us with food because trees and plants can only grow on the soil and nowhere else so it is the basic source from where we get our food .
