The various main types of farming are as follows:-
1. Primitive subsistence farming:- This type of farming is done on small patches of land by the use of primitive tools such as hoe, Dao etc. It also involves family labour. Jhum cultivation or slash and burn agriculture comes under this primitive subsistence farming.
2. Intensive subsistence farming:-This type of farming is practised in high population areas on land. It is also known as labour intensive farming.
3. Commercial farming:- This is the type of farming where a lot of chemicals and modern equipments are used. HYV(High Yielding Variety) seeds are used in this farming and also includes use of chemical fertilizers,insecticides and pesticides in order to get higher productivity and surplus production.
