Any protest could be civil disobedience if a "ruling authority" says so, but the following are usually civil disobedience demonstrations: Public nudity or topfree (to protest indecency laws or as a publicity stunt for another protest such as a war protest) or animal mistreatment (e.g. PETA's campaign against fur).

Protest are the way of public expression in many ways. It shows the state of disapproval or objection by the people.

Following are the ways in which protest can be done-

  • Boycott- It is a way of refusal to buy certain goods or commodity from the market.

        Example- During Non Cooperation movement, Gandhiji urge to    Boycott the use of foreign goods and use the Indian goods.

  • Marches- Along march is done showing a form of protest with large number of people with same ideology.

       Example- Dandi March done by Mahatma Gandhi with many of his followers from Sabarmati to Dandi.

  • Sits ins- These are another form of peaceful protest mainly involve seating in a public place and protesting against the Injustice.

       Example- Shaheen Bagh protest was an example of sits in protest where Muslims objected against the National Register of Citizens(NRC).

  • Civil Disobedience- Literally means not obeying the laws.

      Example- Civil Disobedience Movement in 1930s by Mahatma Gandhi were he by making salt from seawater broke the Salt Tax and declared it as non taxable consumer good.

  • Violence- Though not applaudable, but widely used form of protest. It promote the ideology of "Black Power".

     Example- Bhagat Singh used this method for getting Independence.
