The first viroid discovered as the potato spindle tuber viroid I , which cause a disease in potato .

It has been reported that the infectious agent for thedisease was not a conventional virus but freen RNA .

PSTV is a circular RNA molecule whose nucleotide sequence and secondarynstructure has been established .
