Ans.b) Fleece is a synthetic insulating fabric made from a type of polyester called polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or other synthetic fibres. Answer:

Cocoon : The rearing of silkworms for obtaining silk is called sericulture. During this process, the caterpillar secretes fibre made of a protein which hardens on exposure to air and becomes silk fibre. And the caterpillar completely covers itself by silk fibres for turning into pupa. This covering is known as cocoon.

Fleece : Fleece is the hair that is obtained from yielding animals such as sheep, yak etc. There are two types of fleece :

  • the coarse beard hair
  • the fine soft hair close to the  skin

Different types of processes are involved in removing the fleece. They include Shearing, Scouring, Sorting , Burr picking.

Silk moth : The adult silk worm is called Silk moth. The female silk moth lays eggs, from  which hatch larvae which are called  caterpillars or silk worms. When the caterpillar is ready to  enter the next stage it is called pupa. Then the caterpillar completely covers itself by silk fibres and turns into pupa. The further  development of the pupa into moth  continues inside the cocoon.
