What are those factors that has contributed in the making of state??
Answers
It was not an easy affair to make a constitution for a huge
and diverse country like India. The major factors which contributed to the
making of our Constitution were:
1. People of India were emerging from the status of subjects
to that of citizens.
2. The country was formed after a partition on the basis of
religious differences. It was a traumatic experience for the people of India
and Pakistan.
3. The rulers of the princely states were free to decide
whether they wanted to merge with India or Pakistan or remain independent.
4. In 1928, Motilal Nehru and other Congress leaders drafted
a constitution for India. The resolution of the Karachi session of the Indian
National Congress, in 1931 dwelt on how independent India's constitution should
look like. These documents included universal
adult franchise, right to freedom and equality and protection of the rights of
minorities. Thus all leaders accepted some basic values much before the
formation of the Constitution.
5. The familiarity with the political institutions of
colonial rule helped to develop an agreement over the institutional design.
Elections were held all over British India in 1937, to Provincial Legislatures
and Ministries.
The factors responsible for the making of state:
- Indian people evolved from subject position to citizen status. After a division, the country was formed based on religious differences. For the people of India and Pakistan, it was a traumatic experience.
- The princely states' rulers were independant to decide if they wanted to together or remain independent with India or Pakistan.
- Motilal Nehru and other leaders of the Congress drew up a constitution for India in 1928. The resolution of the Indian National Congress' Karachi session in 1931 dwelt on how the independent constitution of India should look races. Therefore, before the constitution was established, both members agreed to certain basic values.
- Knowledge of the colonial rule's political institutions helped develop a consensus on institutional architecture. Elections to the provincial legislatures were conducted in British India in 1937.
