According to the question,



X + Y = 58 --------(1)



And,


X - Y = 28 --------(2)



From equation (1) we get,



X + Y = 58



X = ( 58 - Y ) ---------(3)



Putting the value of X In equation (2)



X - Y = 28


58 - Y - Y = 28



-2Y = 28 - 58




-2Y = -30



Y = 30/2 = 15



Putting the value of Y in equation (3)



X = 58 - Y = 58 - 15 = 43
