Given

The two numbers whose sum is 58 and the difference is 28.

To find

We have to find those two numbers.

Solution

Let x and y be those two numbers.

then

x + y = 58  ... (1)

and x - y = 28 ... (2)

Add equations (1) and (2)

2x = 86

 x = 43

Substitute x value in equations (1)

43 + y = 58

       y = 58 - 43

       y = 15

Hence the numbers are 43 and 15.

The two numbers are 43 and 15

Given :

The sum of two numbers is 58 and difference is 28

To find :

The two numbers

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Form the equation

Here it is given that sum of two numbers is 58

Let bigger number = x

Then smaller number = 58 - x

Now it is given that the difference is 28

So by the given condition

\displaystyle \sf{ x - (58 - x)  = 28}

Step 2 of 2 :

Find the numbers

\displaystyle \sf{ x - (58 - x)  = 28}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies x - 58 + x = 28}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies 2x - 58  = 28}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies 2x   = 28 + 58}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies 2x   = 86}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies x   =  \frac{86}{2} }

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies x   = 43}

Thus we get ,

Bigger number = 43

Smaller number = 58 - 43 = 15

Hence two numbers are 43 and 15
