Let the required numbers are a and b.

According to the question, sum of the numbers is 58, it means that the sum of a and b should be 58, and therefore a + b = 58

= > a + b = 58

= > a = 58 - b ....( i )

Also, given, difference between the numbers is 28,

Case : 1 ,where a is greater than b,

= > a - b = 28

Substituting the value of a from ( i )

= > ( 58 - b ) - b = 28

= > 58 - b - b = 28

= > 58 - 28 = 2b

= > 30 = 2b

= > 15 = b

Therefore the required numbers are 15 and ( 58 - 15 ) = 43

Case : 2,where b is greater than a,

= > b - a = 28

Substituting the value of a from ( i )

= > b - ( 58 - b )= 28

= > - 58 + b + b = 28

= > 2b = 28 + 58

= > 2b = 86

= > b = 43

Therefore the required numbers are 43 and ( 58 - 43 ) = 15

From above we can say that the required numbers are 15 and 43.
