1) Two of the most important properties of soils are their texture and structure . Bytexture, we mean what soils are composed of and how this affects the way they feel and their cultivation. The main components of soil texture are: sand, silt and clay particles and organic matter.
2) Soil structure is important for plantgrowth, regulating the movement of air and water, influencing root development and affecting nutrient availability. Good quality soils are friable (crumbly) and have fine aggregates so the soil breaks up easily if you squeeze it.
