Answer:
Three types of consumers are primary consumers, secondary consumers, and tertiary consumers.
Explanation:
- Primary consumers occupy the second trophic level and are known as herbivores. They consume primary producers or autotrophs like plants or algae. E.g. Zooplankton, insects like Grasshopper, termites, hummingbirds, etc.
- Secondary consumers occupy the third trophic level and are mostly carnivores, some of them are predators and some are scavengers. They consume Primary consumers, some of them eat both plants and animals and are termed omnivores. E.g. raccoon, who eats berries, frogs, acorns, and crayfish.
- Tertiary consumers- They are the carnivores that eat other carnivores. In other words, they consume secondary consumers. They occupy the fourth trophic level.E.g.- Big cats like lions, tigers, jaguars, snakes, etc.
The first trophic level is occupied by primary producers that acquire their energy from sunlight.
