Explanation:

High and low tides are caused by the moon. The moon's gravitational pull generates something called the tidal force. The tidal force causes Earth—and its water—to bulge out on the side closest to the moon and the side farthest from the moon. These bulges of water are high tides.

A spring tide—popularly known as a "King Tide"—refers to the 'springing forth' of the tide during new and full moon.

A neap tide—seven days after a spring tide—refers to a period of moderate tides when the sun and moon are at right angles to each other.

Answer:

Tides are caused by gravitational pull of the moon and the sun. Tides are very long-period waves that move through the oceans in response to the forces exerted by the moon and sun. Tides originate in the oceans and progress toward the coastlines where they appear as the regular rise and fall of the sea surface.

They are caused by the gravitational forces exerted on the earth by the moon, and to a lesser extent, the sun. Gravity pulls the ocean towards the moon and high tide occurs. The bulge on the far side of the Earth is caused by inertia.

Spring tides occur twice each lunar month all year long without regard to the season. Neap tides, which also occur twice a month, happen when the sun and moon are at right angles to each other. This occurs twice each month.

Tides help us in the following ways:

•High tides help in navigation.

•This helps the ships to arrive at the harbour more easily.

•Tides are also helpful in generating electricity.

•Due to the tide, the growth and degradation of water is being used to generate electricity in some places.
