Additional information :-

In plants there are 2 main types of tissue:-

  • Meristematic- Meristematic tissue forms a group of continuosly dividing cells which helps in growth of the plant.

  • Permanent- When the meristematic tissue have lost their ability to divide they get differentiated to perform a specilised functions these tissue are called permanent tissue.

In animals there are 4 types of tissues:-

  • Epithelial- This is the simplest and the most fundamental tissue in animals which forms a sheet of cells to make a protective covering over the animal body.

  • Connective- As per its name connective tissue aids in binding ,joining, connecting and packing one tissue to another in an animals body so that the whole body can function as an integrated unit.

  • Muscular- Muscular tissue consists of elongated cells called muscle fibres.Contractile proteins are held together inside cells which contract and relax to cause movement of cells. The contractile elements are called myofibrils.

  • Nervous- The nervous tissue consists of neuron cells . These cells are specilised to transmit the stimuli received from external or internal agents to different body parts and brain. The neuron cell is the longest cell known.
