A track is a physical division of data in a disk drive, as used in the Cylinder-Head-Record (CCHHR) addressing mode of a CKD disk. The concept is concentric, through the physical platters, being a data circle per each cylinder of the whole disk drive.

Tracks are found in the discs and are circular paths where the information is stored.

This is done magnetically and from the same path the information can be retrieved.

In short you can say that the tracks divided the information into smaller chunks or blocks to be able to store information effectively.

Every circular path is assigned the desired block.
