Its absolutely not obvious that the egg should decide the sex of the baby just because the mother bears the baby. To decide the sex of the baby u have to look at the chromosomes of males and females. All human beings have 2 types of chromosomes - the autosomes and the sex chromosomes. The sex chromosomes bear the genes for deciding sex of baby. There are 2 types of sex chromosomes - X and Y. All females (normal) have 2 XX chromosomes while the males (normal) have 1X and 1Y chromosome. Now as we know that during gamete formation only one the 2 chromosomes of the pair are passed to the gamete, all the eggs would have only X chromosome (of the sex chromosomes) while the sperms can have either X or Y. When a sperm bearing X chromosome fertilizes the egg, the resultant zygote would be a female as it has XX chromosomes. On the other hand when a sperm bearing Y chromosome fertilizes the egg, the zygote would develop into a male as it has XY chromosomes. It is clear that it is the father who decides the sex of the baby, not the mother, due to its heterozygous nature.

well yes father is responsible for deciding the sex of the child because as mother can only produce x chromosome and father can both so it depends on father whether it will be a boy or girl
because XX makes girl And XY makes boy
I hope u understood
