What are transition elements and non transition elements?

The non-transition elements are the main-group elements that are s and p block elements for example Alkali metals like sodium (Na), Potassium (K) etc, alkaline earth metals like magnesium(Mg), Strontium (Sr) etc., Chalcogens like Oxygen, Sulphur, Halogens like Chlorine, Bromine etc.
