The distinct sequential steps in food chains where transfor of energy occurs r called trophic levels .

Goat ---------> Insects-------> Frog --------> Peacock .

In this food chain , grass is a producer
( 1st tropic level ) . Insect is herbivorous nd eats grass . thus insects is at second topic level . Insect , in turn eaten by frog
( carnivore 1 ) . Thus frog is a third trophic level . Frog is eaten by snake
( carnivore 2) . Thus snake is fourth trophic level . Snake in turn is eaten by peacock ( Carnivore 3 ) . thus , peacock is fifth trophic level .
