The tropic movements are related to the direction of stimuli. Nastic movements are NOT related to the direction of stimuli. Tropic movements are caused by the cell divisions in the organ.

Tropic moment respond in the direction of stimuli, they are responsible for growth, they show directional growth like phototropic movement ,growth of the plant in direction of sunlight stem+tropism and roots show - negative tropism simlarly ,geotropism roots grow in the direction of gravity downwards, hydrotropism roots grow in the direction of water whereas nastic moment are not responsible for growth, they are unidirectional, like mimosa plant that folds its leaves when we touch due to the difference in turgidity.
