Ministry of Education set the project questions, so if you cannot afford to purchase the novel or cannot have it borrowed, then I advice you to call the Ministry for the answers. They will gladly assist you.

Two themes that are found in the novel Black Midas are:

1. Struggle in racist world.

2. one should keep its spirit up and never be discouraged.

Character sketch of the protagonist:

Black Midas by Jan Carew published in 1969, Aron smart who is orphaned at an early age, for most of his childhood he worked with the road gangs to construct roadways. He met a white man, Beauchamp while out on his way for the job. The white man had a connection with legendary ‘gold king’ who happened to be Aron’s disappeared dad, Joe Smart. The white man as a benefactor, allows Aron to get a pharmaceutical apprenticeship when he acknowledges him to be Joe’s son.

Later, Aron was not satisfied and  becomes a “pork-knocker” as he started working in diamond mines like his father. Therefore, by working as a pork knocker he realized it not to be an easy task to perform and that a man can lose his entire fortune if work is not done carefully. With time Aron faced his inner conflicts while working in the diamond mines. There were instances that he was impacted by the people he met and the choices he had to made to strive to become a big name in the city.
