There are 5 types of hepatitis :-
hepatitis A - spread by faeco oral mode of transmission , ss RNA ,non enveloped capsid , mild diesease
hepatitis B - spread by bodily fluids , ds circular DNA , enveloped capsid , chronic disease may lead to liver cirrhosis , a second generation recombinant DNA technology vaccine is available
hepatitis C (non A non B hepatitis )- speard by bodily fluids , ss RNA , enveloped capsid , similar to hep B in clinical presentation may lead to liver cirrhosis and cancer
hepatitis D (delta) - spread by bodily fluids , ss RNA ,satellite infection to hep B i.e a person must be coinfected with hep B to contact hep D , severe liver damage and higher fatality rate as compared to hep B
hepatitis E( infectious non A non B hepatitis) - spread by faeco oral mode of transmission , does not cause chronic liver conditions but results in a high mortality rate in pregnant women
