\underline{\mathfrak{Reproduction:}}

  • Creation of new individuals from the existing population of the same species .
  • DNA (Blue print of life) stores all the information about the body design , building and running of the cellular machinery and functioning of the individuals.

\mathfrak{Significance\:of\:Reproduction:}

  • For maintenance or continuity of species.
  • For adding variation for evolution.
  • For maintenance of population size.

\mathfrak{Types\:of\:Reproduction:}

  1. Asexual Reproduction.
  2. Sexual Reproduction.

\mathfrak{Asexual\:Reproduction:}

  • Only one parent is involved.
  • Offsprings are the identical copies of parents.
  • No gamete formation occurs.

\mathfrak{Sexual\:Reproduction:}

  • Male and female gametes are involved .
  • Variations take place .
  • In cell division meiosis occur .

\underline{\underline{\bold{Reproduction\::}}}

It is a process by which a living organism produces more species of it's own kind.

\underline{\underline{\bold{Types\::}}}

\underline\textbf{1) Asexual Reproduction :}

When a single parent is involved and no gamates formation takes place.

\textbf{a) Binary Fission :}

When two daughter cells are formed as a result of fission. Most of the unicellular organisms reproduce by this method when conditions are favourable.

Ex :- Amoeba.

\textbf{b) Multiple Fission :}

In this mode of reproduction a single individual splits up into many new individuals.

Ex :- Plasmodium.

\textbf{c) Budding :}

Growth of a new individual by outer growth of the parent organism.

Ex :- Hydra and Yeast.

\textbf{d) Fregmentation :}

In this method lf reproduction a single individual organism mature and breaks up into many pieces or fragments.

Ex :- Spirogyra.

\textbf{Re-generation :}

In this method of reproduction if an organism cuts accidentally into several pieces then each piece develop into new individual.

Ex :- Planaria.

\textbf{g) Vegetative Propagation :}

It mostly occurs in plants. In this method with the use of roots, stems, fruits and leaves a fully plant is developed, without the use of seeds.

Ex :- Rose, Money plant.

\textbf{h) Spore formation :}

The parent plant produces reproductive unit cell called spores. Within the spore case. When the spore case brust they spread through air; germinate and reproduce.

Ex :- Rhizopus.

\underline\textbf{2)\: Sexual\: Reproduction\: :}

The production of a new organism from two parents by making use of their gamates...

It has no further types.
