Unsaturated Fatty Acid- In it double bonds are present with single bond between carbon-carbon atom.

•This is also known as essential fatty acid because they cannot be synthesized in animal body so it is important to take them with food.

•Lipids with more amount of unsaturated fatty acids are mostly present in liquid form at normal temperature.

Examples- Coconut oil, mustard oil etc.

Metabolically they are highly reactive so mostly participate in metabolic reactions.

•Mostly it is seen that plant fat contains high amount of unsaturated fatty acids.

•They do not have tendency to store in animal body.
