It isn't clear yet enough how the universe will end, there are many theories about it but one of the theory, which fits the most is that "Universe will end in a wimp". Yeah you heard it, in a wimp. Which means the Universe will just simply die into cold. All stars will eventually die and become white dwarf and black holes. Much further in time the white dwarf will become black dwarf (basically a giant ball of ash). Later every thing will be consumed by black holes. The remaining particles will decay. How? well the proton of an atom will start to decay. Because the temperature of the universe will reach absolute zero. Soon as per the hawking theory, all black will evaporate. And nothing will be left.
