valency is the number of electrons in the outermost shell.

For ex- chlorine has atomic number 17.

hence - Cl=17

             Cl=2,8,7

the number of electrons in outermost shell is 7 in this case. thus valency of cl is 7.

Atomic number- atomic number is the number of protons in an atom of  element.

the valency example might be confusing to you if you're in class 9. plz mark brainliest

ATOMIC NUMBER ; the number of protons in the nucleus of an atom, which is characteristic of a chemical element and determines its place in the periodic table.

VALENCY; It is the combining capacity of an element. It is determined by the valence electrons. The valency of an element is equal to the number of electrons lost , gained or shared to complete the octet.
