variables are non-constant values which are in the form of x,y,z or any alphabetical order.Varibles have no fixed place their position gets changed.

Algebraic expressions

Algebraic expressions are a set of constant , variables along with an operational sign all together makes up a term called an algebraic expressions.

Example : 5x+3y-8 , 2x-4y-6 ,25x-34y+65

All given terms are algebraic expressions in which variables( x,y ), constant term -8,-6 & 65 along with an operational sign +,- .

Types of algebraic expressions :

  • Monomial Expression(having only 1 term)
  • Binomial Expression(having two term)
  • Polynomial Expression(having more than 2 term)

Examples of types of algebraic expressions :

4x² (monomial Expression)

5x²-4y(Binomial Expression)

2x²-4y+6 (Polynomial Expression)

Like and unlike term

Like terms are those terms which have same number of variables.

Example : 2x²+5x ,8x-3x

Unlike terms are those terms which have two different variables in terms.

Example :6x-4y ,7x-3y
