There are mainly three cropping patterns.

1.Mixed cropping-The practice of growing two or more crops simultaneously on the same piece of land is called mixed cropping.This helps to increase the crop yield.

2.Intercropping-The practice of growing two or more crops simultaneously on the same field but in a definite pattern is called intercropping.

Example-Wheat and mustard

3.Crop rotation-The practice of growing two or more crops on the same field in a pre planned succession is called crop rotation.

Example-A wheat crop is alternated with legume crop.
