A vector is an organism, typically a biting insect, that transmits a disease or parasite from one animal to another.Whereas a parasite is an organism which lives in or on another organism (its host) and benefits by deriving nutrients at the other's expense.A mosquito cannot be considered as a parasite because it does not depend on blood for living.

Ps:-Female Mosquitoes are vector because they don't need blood to survive Male mosquitoes never thrive for blood.Females need blood for the nourishment of their eggs.
