The temperate grasslands in South Africa are called the Veldts. The High Veldts are located at an altitude of about 1600 metres in the north-east. The Veldts have a mild climate with warm and dry temperature. The moderate climate is because of the elevation of the plateau and the presence of oceans on three sides.
