Vestigial organs are the organs in the body of an organism which has no use for the current generation but was once useful to the ancestors .
Vestigial organs continue to be transmitted generation after generation but in a reduced form .
Examples of vestigial organ is wisdom teeth .
We generally do not use it in chewing or in tearing food .
Another example is the vermiform appendix .
It has no function in humans. However certain mammals use it for cellulose digestion .
Similarly ear pinna is a vestigial organ having no use in humans .
It is used for gathering sound waves by some mammals .
