Villi is a finger-like projection of the lining of the small intestine.
Millions of tiny finger-like structures called villi project inwards from the lining of the small intestine. The large surface areathey present allows for rapid absorption of digestion products. These tiny projections greatly increase the surface area for absorption of nutrients into the circulating blood and lymph systems.
