The small finger like projection in the small intestine is called villi. They are present in small intestine.
Functions :
Villi are supplied with a network of capillaries and the lacteal. they help in Absorption of fatty acids and glycerol in intestinal mucosa.
The absorbed food is delivered to each and every cell of the body.
The villi produce numerous microscopic projections called microvilli. they increase the surface area enormously.
Mucosa( the innermost lining the lumen of the the alimentary canal) forms gastric glands and cypts in between the bases of villi in the intestine.
