Answer:

Weeds are unwanted and uncultivated plants that grow with crops and compete with crops for nutrients and can also cause crop toxification. Weeding is removal of weeds and is mostly done before flowering begins in crop plants. It is done using trowel, harrow or weedicides. Trowel is used in manual removal of weeds.

Answer:

Weeds are unwanted and uncultivated plants that grow with crops and compete with crops for nutrients and can also cause crop toxification.  These weeds, feed on the nutrients provided to the crops and thus reduce the supply of nutrients to the crops, thereby, hindering their growth. Weeding is removal of weeds and is mostly done before flowering begins in crop plants.

Weeding methods

Some important weeding methods are listed below

1) Weeds can be controlled using weedicides: It is a chemical, which is sprayed in the fields to kill all available weeds. Weedicides are not harmful to crops.

2) Tilling before sowing of crops also helps in removing weeds: Tilling uproots the weeds. The best time for the removal of weeds is before they produce flowers and seeds.

3) The manual method of removing weeds is with the help of a khurpi. It involves regular uprooting or cutting of weeds close to the ground.

4) Manual method: Walking the field and pulling out the weeds.

5) By mechanical means: Using trowel through the field that will fill up the space between the crop rows and cut/kill the weeds.
