Answer:

sometimes , undesirable plants called weeds grow along with the crop. weeds need to be removed as they start competing with the crop for air , sunlight , and nutrients, which become harmful for crops. Some of them may even be poisonous to human beings and animals.

Various methods of weeding

1) Mechanical methods- tilling, hoeing, mulching, digging, burning, hand weeding.

2) Chemical methods- There are various chemicals which are used in controlling weeds these chemical substances are called weedicides. These chemicals are diluted and applied through various types of spray machines.

But they can cause harm to the person involved in spraying and handling of these chemicals

The other side effects of using these chemicals are they are chemical pollutants

Examples of weedicides are 2, 4 D and bromoxynil

3) Biological methods - This is the safe and effective method of weeding. In this method a living organism is used to control the growth of weeds. For example insects, bacteria, fungi and various grazing animals like sheep, goats, cow etc

But the most common in biological methods is insect bio control (biological control through insects)

Species of termites and beetles are used for such purposes.

Hope it helps.
