Western Disturbances are cold winds arising in the Mediterranean Sea and blowing towards India due the change in pressure belts in the winter season or the season of retreating mo soon.
Western Disturbances are responsible for bringing winter rain to the northern states of India mainly Punjab and Haryana. They also bring snowfall in the Himalayas.
This is how it affects the climate of India.

They usually influence the weather of the north and western region of India. Tropical cyclones occur during the monsoon as well as in October, November, and are part of easterly flow. These disturbances affect the coastal regions of the country.
