xerophytes  are plants that resist severe heat or drought.

eg. Calotropis and Capparis are non-succulent perennials. Both suffer from dryness in internal and external environments. So, they are true xerophytes or drought-resistants.

Both possess several similar morphological, physiological and anatomical features to withstand severe drought conditions. These are rapid elongation and extensive root system.  They can endure high osmotic pressure and have low level of transpiration rate. They also have small leaf blades and cells and several root hairs also.

Hope it helps!
