Xylem is made up of xylem vessels, tracheids , xylem parenchyma and xylem fibers.
Xylem vessels are tubelike structures joined end to end. Tracheids are elongated narrow cells. they are dead cells. Water and minerals move upwards through vessels and tracheids. Fibres are long cells with thick walls and narrow cavities. Xylem parenchyma are living cells. They help in transportation of water. Xylem is present from root to the tip of the plants as water has to reach every leaf and branch.
