Answer:
BAC (Bacterial Artificial Chromosome) is the engineered DNA molecule that has cloning sites, promoters and several G+C restriction enzyme sites for potential excision of the inserts. The BACs carrying the gene of interest are then taken up by bacterial cells where they are amplified with bacterial DNA. YACs are engineered DNA molecule that has been constructed for cloning in yeast cells. They carry autonomous replication sequence (ARS), a centromere (CEN) and a selectable marker (trp1) in one arm and a second selectable marker in another arm. Hence, both YAC and BAC are artificial DNA constructs that can maintain large human and plant genomic fragments (> 300 kb) with a high degree of stability and thus, are used to construct genome libraries and in gene transfer.
