• The first and the most obvious observation is the generation of the heat energy from the sugar. So it's an exothermic chemical reaction.

• The white sugar turns into black and melts during the combustion of the sugar.

• Carbon dioxide gas is produced during the combustion of the sugar, which turns lime water into milky white substance.
