What are zero group elements? Why are they so called?

Nobel gases are called zero group element because they are completely inert in form which doesn't form any compounds. They are octet in nature which makes them stable and unable to gain or lose electrons.

inert gases are called as zero group elements because their valency is zero. they don't take part in any chemical reactions. they are also known as noble gases
