Jute textile industry is an agro-based Industry.  The jute industry creates large jobs and benefits from precious foreign exchanges. In some of the 'eastern Indian states' such as 'West Bengal', 'Bihar', 'Assam and Orissa', 'Jute' contributes significantly to the 'agricultural and industrial economy'.
