Carbohydrates can be represented by the stoichiometric formula (CH2O)n, where n is the number of carbons in the molecule. In other words, the ratio of carbon to hydrogen to oxygen is 1:2:1 in carbohydrate molecules. This formula also explains the origin of the term
“carbohydrate”: the components are carbon (“carbo”) and the components of water (hence, “hydrate”). Carbohydrates are classified into three subtypes: monosaccharides, disaccharides, and polysaccharides.

Functions are :
Providing energy and regulation of blood glucose

Sparing the use of proteins for energy

Breakdown of fatty acids and preventing ketosis

Biological recognition processes

Flavor and Sweeteners

Dietary fiber

➡Hey mate:--

➡Sorces:--

➡carbohydrates represent one of the three main classes of foods.

↪carbs are a source of energy they are mainly sugars.

➡The two main forms of carbohydrates are sugars and starches, which are found in foods such as starchy vegetables, grains, rice, breads, and cereals.

➡ The body breaks down or converts most carbohydrates into the sugar glucose, which is absorbed into the bloodstream

➡Basic definition:---

↪A carbohydrate is a biomolecule consisting of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen atoms, usually with a hydrogen–oxygen atom ratio of 2:1 .

↪This formula holds true for monosaccharides.

Hope its helps;)
