Answer :
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reiterated that his government is committed to work towards the eradication of regional imbalances in development.
Speaking at the conference of Congress workers here on Saturday, Mr. Siddaramaiah said the previous Bharatiya Janata Party government had done nothing for the development of north Karnataka, particularly the Hyderabad Karnataka region. “The BJP has no moral right to speak about the problems of Hyderabad Karnataka region. The BJP owes an explanation to the people of Hyderabad Karnataka region for their failures,” he said.
Rules framed
The Congress government in the State had framed rules for the implementation of the Article 371 (J) of the Constitution and got the President’s assent for it. “We will start implementing the provisions of the Article 371(J) now for the benefit of the people of Hyderabad Karnataka region,” he said.
Mr. Siddaramaiah said his government had taken measures to implement all the promises made to the people in the Congress manifesto released before the Assembly elections. “Out of the 169 promises made to the people, within eight months, 65 promises have been implemented and in due course, rest of the promises will be implemented.”
He singled out the implementation of Ksheera Bhagya of providing milk to the children in schools three times a week.
This helped in reducing malnutrition among children and covered 1.3 crore children in the State now.
Accusing the previous BJP government of leaving the public distribution system in the State in shambles by reducing the quantum of foodgrains provided to below the poverty line (BPL) families and creating chaos in the distribution of BPL cards, the Chief Minister said the present government had initiated measures to correct these anomalies and the Anna Bhagya scheme had ensured 30 kg foodgrains to BPL families, every month.
